At my place you'll find a piano, a silver and an old bone-and-ebony flute, a quena and a quenacho (a bigger quena),
a doudouk and two salamuri's (wooden flutes from Georgia). And a few string instruments; a charango, a small banjo,
a ukelele, a cavaquinho, a chonguri and two panduri’s.. Most of the instruments have been collected in the last 12
years, with one exeption, which is the flute. I'm playing the flute since I was 9 years old. I've been playing the bass
flute for 10 years in the Netherlands Flute Orchestra, the NLfo. An orchestra of 30 flutes, piccolo to subcontrabass-
flute, conducted by Jorge Caryevschi. In those years we have been playing a wide variety of music, from classical
to contemporary compositions. And I played in the 'Noordenwind Kwintet' , a wind quintet, which was a lot of fun.
Besides that I have been singing in choirs for many years, but I had to stop, being too busy with travels and other
music activities. Lately I’ve been playing charango and flutes mainly, so far mainly for informal concerts and gigs.
My first charango concert was in August 2008. I bought my first Bolivian charango and a couple of other Andean
instruments in 2008. I love to play the traditional music from the Andes but also enjoy classical and improvising.
